Arriving by air

There is no airport on Hvar Island.  The closest mainland airports for reaching Hvar Island are Split International or Dubrovnik International.  From the airport, you’ll need to take either a bus or taxi to the nearest ferry port.

Airport bus from Split International to the ferry port

There is an airport shuttle bus that departs directly outside the airport terminal building and go straight to Split ferry port (which is in the city centre).  The journey takes approximately 40 minutes and you can pay the driver directly.  The fare is approximately €9

 Airport bus from Dubrovnik to the ferry port

There is a reliable non-stop shuttle bus from Dubrovnik airport into the city centre which also stops at the ferry port. It departs from outside the terminal 30 minutes after each flight arrives and you can buy a ticket at the airport or from the bus driver. You can also take a taxi from the airport as well.

Airport taxis from Split to the ferry port

The journey to Split ferry port from the airport is approx 30-40 minutes’ drive time.  We recommend using KnB Transfers on +385912530812 and please say you are staying with Amanda and Chris at Hidden House it is a flat fee of €45 for a saloon car if you are a larger party or have a huge amount of baggage you might need a larger taxi but Bozo will help you every step of the way.

Arriving by car

If you are bringing a car, be aware that you will need to pre-book your vehicle onto the Jadrolinija car ferry and from Split to Stari Grad or from Drvenik to Sucuraj and we recommend arriving at your departure port at least two hours before departure time in peal season. The best way to purchase a ticket is by the Jadrolinija app.

Note that the car ferry only disembarks at Stari Grad port or Sucuraj so you’ll need to catch the right boat. Catamarans from Hvar Town do not take vehicles.

How to travel to Hvar Island

There is no airport on Hvar, so everyone arrives by sea. You have three choices for how to do this: the ferry, the catamaran or a private boat service.

For ferry and catamaran sailing routes, times, prices and to buy tickets, we recommend you download the excellent Jadrolinija app from Google Play or Apple Store. Or visit the Jadrolinija website.

Also you can download the TP Line app and Krilo both these companies sail catamarans into and out of Hvar Town (foot passengers only).

 Journey times from the mainland to Hvar Island

• 2 hour ferry journey or 1hr catamaran from Split.

• 7 hour ferry journey or 3.5hr catamaran from Dubrovnik.

• Stari Grad port (4km / 5 minutes by car)

• Jelsa Port (10km / 15 minutes by car)

• Hvar Town (18.5km / 20 minutes by car)

Private Boat Service

We can arrange a private speedboat to bring you from Split Airport quay directly to the quay in Stari Grad. Please ask us for details.

Arriving into Stari Grad Port

Hidden House Suites is located in the heart of Stari Grad’s historic town — a 25 minute walk from Stari Grad port or 5 minutes by car.

Into Hvar Town Port

Hidden House Suites are a 20/25 minute car journey from Hvar Town Port.

• With prior arrangement, we can arrange a taxi to meet you. (€40 payable to the driver).

• There is no car ferry service to Hvar Port.

Hidden House Suites is a 15 minute car journey from Jelsa port.

• With prior arrangement, we can arrange a taxi to meet you. (€20 payable to the driver).

• There is no car ferry service to Jelsa port.
